Favorite quote:
“The function of education is to teach us to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character- that is the goal of true education.”
- The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Favorite thing about Project GRAD Akron:
I have two favorite things about Project GRAD Akron. My first favorite thing is the organization's commitment to the future of the youth in the community. The importance of a different, brighter tomorrow for each child, adolescent, and young adult is embedded throughout the programs and mindset of all staff. My second favorite thing is the organization’s commitment to the training of future social work and human service professionals using “real world” internships.
A little about Naomi:
Even though I am from Ohio, attending schools of social work in Pittsburgh, PA and New York City, and then living in NYC for over 20 years prior to returning to my home state of Ohio, my heart has also expanded to include NYC as feeling like home. This is not surprising, since I am an explorer at heart, with my travels including far from home; Italy, Germany, France, England, Copenhagen, and near; PA, NJ, RI, MA, KY, LA, GA, AZ, NM, CA, OR, WA, D.C.
My recent completion of instructional design for online learning in the school of education married my passion for social work with my passion for education, specifically how one learns in varied environments. Walking, exploring, thinking, reading, hearing stories, creating stories, laughing, and traveling are some of my favorite things.
