Favorite thing about Project GRAD Akron:
My favorite thing about serving on the Project GRAD Akron Board of Directors is that I can see how our efforts on the Board have a direct impact on our organization’s ability to offer valuable programs and services to Akron Public School students of various ages. As a Board, we also have the privilege of enabling Project GRAD Akron volunteers to provide mentorship and assistance to the high school students we serve as the students are transitioning from high school to college and even while they are in college. My participation on the Board has been a very rewarding experience.
A little about Maura:
I grew up in Akron, attended Our Lady of the Elms High School, and graduated from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts. I attended Case Western Reserve University School of Law and graduated with a law degree in 1988. I have been employed in the private practice of law since 1988 with Scanlon & Gearinger, Co., LPA (1988-2010) and currently, The Scanlon Group, Co., LPA (2011 – present). I feel strongly about being engaged with the community so I have been involved with many volunteer organizations over the last 30 years, both on a personal and professional level.
I have been married for 26 years to my husband, Jim Bozzelli, and we have two children who are in college at The Ohio State University and Loyola University of Chicago. When I am not working or volunteering, I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling with my husband, exercising, walking, bike riding, and learning how to play golf again!
