Favorite quote:

The Optimist Creed:

“Promise yourself to be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.  To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet.  To make all your friends feel that there is something in them.  To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true.  To think only of the best, to work only for the best and to expect only the best.  To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.  To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future. To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile.  To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others.  To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.”

Favorite thing about Project GRAD Akron:

It is definitely the students: the unbridled enthusiasm of our students in the Bridges to Kindergarten program, the trials and tribulations of our high schoolers, the gratitude of our college scholarship recipients, and the passion of our alums. I love hearing their stories and sharing their experiences. But, I am fickle enough to say that my favorite thing is whatever project or event that I happen to be working on for Project GRAD.

A little about Debbie:

I have a Bachelor of Science from Bowling Green State University. I had the pleasure of serving as a member of the Board of Education for the Akron Public Schools and a member of the Ohio School Boards Association Board of Trustees.

I enjoy sports of all kinds but especially baseball (high school, Rubber Ducks & the Indians), basketball (high school, UA and the Cavs), and football (high school, UA, BG, Ohio State, and the Browns). I am an active member of  Optimist International, a board member of the Greater Akron Baseball Hall of Fame, the Ohio Council of Republican Women and the Summit County Transportation Improvement District, a sustaining member of the Junior League of Akron and Delta Gamma Sorority.
