Project GRAD Akron seeking GRAD Mentors! Impact a Student's Future.

June 26, 2017

AKRON, OHIO – Project GRAD Akron has received grant funding from The Ohio Department of Education’s Community Connectors to continue with year three of the GRAD Mentors! program.  The GRAD Mentors! program provides school-based mentoring to seniors at Buchtel Community Learning Center. The “GRAD” Mentors will have a passion to serve students to Achieve their Dreams, advocating for a student’s academic and personal success.

The GRAD Mentors! program is a component of Project GRAD’s College and Career Central which provides students with the resources, skills, and knowledge to create a personal vision for their future that is founded on their strengths.  The expectation is for all students to be college and career ready upon their high school graduation, whether they chose enrollment in college, enlistment in the military, or employment.

We are currently recruiting volunteers from the community to serve as a Mentor for a one year commitment to a high school senior.  This school based program is designed for the mentoring match to meet one hour each week at the school with additional time and support through e-mentoring.  Volunteers will be provided with comprehensive training and on-going support.  A Background Check is required.

Project GRAD Akron is a non-profit educational reform organization serving students in the Buchtel Cluster of Akron Public Schools since 2002. Our mission is to provide a system of programs, supports, and scholarships for underrepresented students to achieve success from kindergarten through career.
