“Project GRAD Akron to sponsor 2nd Annual March GRADness Fundraiser”
On Monday, April 4, 2016, Project GRAD Akron will host its second annual March GRADness, a spring fundraiser to benefit the organization’s College Access Programs and Scholarship Fund. March GRADness will be held at Greystone Hall, 103 S. High Street, Akron, Ohio. The evening will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a “Happy Hour” type social and will conclude with the guests being able to watch the NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship game. March GRADness will feature television screens, food stations, beverages, raffles, and a great deal of fun! The event is sponsored by G. Stephens, Inc.
Project GRAD (Graduation Really Achieves Dreams) collaborates to provide a system of programs, supports, and scholarships for underrepresented students to achieve success from kindergarten through career. In addition to the various programs and services Project GRAD provides for students from kindergarten to college, since 2006 Project GRAD Akron has awarded nearly $1.5 million in scholarships to graduates of Buchtel High School of the Akron Public Schools. Thanks to many generous donors, more than three hundred fifty (350) students have been awarded scholarships from Project GRAD Akron.
This year boasts another great team of volunteers who are serving on the March GRADness steering committee. Event chairpersons, Richard Roberts and Chris R. Dennis, are two civic-minded individuals with connections to Buchtel High School. They areleading a team of volunteers who are planning the details for a great fundraiser. Roberts is a retired administrator with the Akron Public Schools. In addition to serving as an educator, he was also an elementary, secondary, and central office administrator for the Akron Public Schools. The former Principal of Buchtel High School is also actively involved in civic and religious organizations in the community. Dennis is a graduate of Buchtel High School. After college, he returned to the community and is currently the Vice President of Celebrity Partnerships for the Give Something Back Foundation. Dennis volunteers his time to education and healthcare initiatives.
Opportunities to support the event include the purchase of tickets, which are available for $100.00 VIP and $40.00 General Admission, donation of sports or college-related raffle items, and/or making contributions to support Project GRAD Akron.
